An Introduction to Cuff Down Socks

with Venessa Bentley of the

Working Hands Fibre Arts Studio

Four Thursday evenings, time to be confirmed

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

In this 4 week program, you will be introduced to the structure and form of a sock, knit from the cuffs to the toes.  A great program for first time sock knitters.

Using double knitting (dk) weight yarn, you will work through a pair of beautiful socks, learning to turn a heel, to shape the gusset and toe, and to graft the toe using the kitchener stitch to finish off.

Colour work patterns are included in the pattern if you wish to try them. The sequence for Venessa's design of The Wellington Socks, will also be shared with you.

Pull your first pair on in Week 4 and that will be the end of store bought socks for you!

You will need:

3 balls of dk weight wool, approximately 100 metres per ball.  Choose 2 balls of one colour, and one of another colour if you want contrasting heels and toes.

3.25 mm double pointed needles, wood is best.  Bring two sets of needles if you can, and work on both socks each week.

a spool of Woolly Nylon serger thread to reinforce the heels and toes.  If you aren't sure about this, Venessa will tell you more about this in the first class.  You will not need it until Class #2.

Venessa's descriptive step-by-step pattern is included.
