Welcome to the Fold, Beginner Spinning

Saturday, June 22 and 29, 2019

Two, 2 hour sessions, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Kim McKenna, Claddagh Fibre Arts

There is nothing quite like knitting or weaving with your own hand spun yarn. This two-session class introduces you to the basics of spinning on a wheel. The main focus of the two sessions will be to get you spinning a continuous yarn, which is called a singles. While learning to spin singles you also learn about how to choose fibre, fibre preparations on the market for handspinners, draft, twist and the mechanics of your wheel. The class fee includes 100 grams of beautifully prepared fibre.

*A refundable deposit of $100 will be required should you need to use a studio wheel for the duration of the workshop. To make the most of the time you have in class, we suggest you pick up the wheel 1-3 days prior to the workshop so you can practice treadling the wheel and keep it spinning in the same direction. Wheels are taken home between the first and second classes so you can practice between sessions.

Have your own wheel? Great! You save $40 on the registration fee, which is reduced to $95, please call to register for this option.
